Why We Should Be The Best Customer To Ourselves

I have few questions to ask and you are free to give your answers if you want to.
As a musician, footballer, trader, teacher, banker, driver and all the rest professions, do you feel the impact of that which you are doing? What I mean is this, apart from the monetary incentives of your job, how else do you profit from it?
Do you honestly derive some satisfactions in that which you do or are you just going through the notions of merely doing your own part and only to
collect your pay at the end of the day? Good. But aside from the pay, I mean if the pay is not forthcoming, are there other reasons why you have to hang on as it were?

Well, what inspired this write up hit me so hard and the only remedy is simply to handle it this way. Yes, the best solution is to let it out just the way you have it now.

As a writer, book author, or whatever format best describes or suits you, how does your works affect you? Do you for example, write just because others can read and probably pay you? or is there other motives behind it? Sounds odd. Isn’t it?
If it is to be and rightly so, our well researched topics and write ups should appeal to us personally before anyone else! In terms of benefits, a book writer ought to be the first beneficiary of his work before any other person just like a musician who always starts dancing and nodding his head to his fine lyrics before any others. How much does he pay to himself? for a certain, the motivation here goes beyond the obvious.

Those nice instructions or suggestions we are proudly passing on to many unknown others, how truly has it benefited the founder, to start with? Let’s put it this way, you came up with some nice tips on how to live happily with our spouses, how to take care good care of ourselves, how to raise responsible children, how to make A1 in exams e.t.c, but truly speaking, how would you feel if you know very well that you falls short in those areas? That sounds like a duty continuity announcer.
Do you feel this way in your profession?

Now taken from another angle, assuming you were good in those areas but no one cares about your hard work and no compensations for your sleepless nights and so on. What then do you do in this regard, even with the popular saying that, a passion is nothing if it cannot pass food to your table? Well that is where your real intents come to the fore. Are you writing just because you picked a book from that store and boldly written on it with a shining attractive color, “3 million copies sold,#1 in the world” or that online publishers are raking in millions of dollars from their blogs through google adsense and other third party links and you immediately felt that this is an avenue for making quick cash, which of course it is but yours seem not be ranking as it were. hmm!

As I pointed out earlier, that is where your real intentions come out. Just like every other field of endeavor, if you are not passionate about it, you are sure to drop your pen and paper as it were and look for something else to do and the same would befall the next if the only motivations behind is the cash. But if you are really convinced that what you have in that book, on that web page, or in any other format is worth the efforts, I must tell you, you will surely push it to the next level. You are damn sure to give it your all and balance it up in a win-win situation. you should, because a workman is worthy of his wages. But these are only achievable when we must have developed enough reasons why we must be passionate with what we do in life.

Passions at work

Having come this far with me, you may have noticed some digressions, you are right because I touched on many life endeavors but narrowed it down to writing which is the main focus, but the same principle holds true if properly aligned to other areas of specializations.

So as writers, especially the newbies like my humble self or the respected and established writers in the industry, let us share this piece of advice:

  1. keep on writing if you truly have passions for it and you are equally convinced of the inputs you are making.
2. keep on writing even when all you are getting as feedback are critics. Analyze them critically and move on for it is part of your profession/training.
3. keep on writing even when no one is reading your works and other avenues for supporting or exposing your works are exhausted, let your integrity and passions carry you through and more so with your reliance on God in that what you are doing is also for the good of your fellow humans who would benefit from your works when properly exposed to it. Just play your parts well.

Rest assured that when your works would be recommended or stumbled upon--- you would have become a force to be reckoned with in your niche.
Keep those late night candles burning and as you do, remember this source whenever the desired results come pouring in like rain, for it certainly should.
